political matrix

Ricky sent me this link. It's gonna be an interesting year for sure. I remember the last Presidential election - Ricky and I had some great discussions. I look forward to comparing notes with him again.

It's great to feel like you actually have some decent choices this time around. I'm leaning toward Obama. Hillary wouldn't be bad either. I wonder if the prejudices of the American population will come out during this election. I mean - after all a black man and a white woman are the Democratic choices. As a Hispanic woman - I've seen/experienced first hand rejection and torment for being a minority. Amazingly - I haven't heard much noise about the race/gender thing tho - so maybe it won't play much of a part. But you know what - I like McCain too. He's even softer on immigration than Hillary is.... I betcha those Fundamental conservative Repulicans are gonna have a hard time swallowing McCain as their option.

Sometimes it seems a bit odd to have dialog with your little baby about things like this - but it's also very gratifying. Speaking of "my little baby" - he's flying into town tomorrow. woohoo! :D

You know I listen to a lot of AM talk radio. The right-wingers are ripping McCain to shreds! McCain is tolerable to me even though he's a Republican, because he doesn't seem to be as much of a Bible-beater as the others. (If the Focus on the Family guy hates him, then he must be OK!). But, it's kinda fun to watch them "eating their own".

At my neighborhood caucus, the crowd was overwhelmingly in favor of Obama, by almost a 3-to-1 margin. I was (plesantly) surprised.
Although I will probably vote for Obama or Clinton, I like McCain too. However, I think he's making a mistake now by trying to appear more conservative than he really is, in an effort to attract the right wing evangelical vote. I think he might lose many of the independents and moderate liberals with all this new conservative rhetoric, without gaining that many votes he wouldn't have anyway. I guess that'll be good for Clinton or Obama.

Oh yeah, I just remembered that Boulder County isn't exactly representative of "Middle America". ;-)

The president is merely a figure head for the rest of the World to Fear or not fear. Since the president does not posses the power of line item veto - the Congress retains more of the power over the american people and the direction of the country. But what do I know I voted for Bush twice!
