competing addictions

Yesterday I was driving down Hwy 93 toward Golden and my left arm and left side of my chest were aching. It wasn't the sore muscles/i'm physically hurt kind of ache - but the craving ache of an addiction.

Have you ever tried to quit something (coffee, sugar, shopping, a guy, cheese, beer, whatever) but there's a pull somewhere inside that makes you want to give in to what you are pulling away from?

That's what I was feeling as I was heading to meet up with friends for a mtn bike ride.

I decided to ride my mtn bike instead of play in the monthly 8ball tournament - but my pool addiction was physically pulling at me. I love the monthly 8 ball tournaments - I get to play on the 9' (big boy) tables, i usually do really well at these tournaments, i love the game, the competition and the pressure...but alas i'm giving those monthly tournaments up for a long while now as mtn biking (my other addiction) is a higher priority...however pool still has its tentacles in me.

ride...ride...ride!
I had a wonderful day on the bike (well there was some suffering going on as I'm not in SS shape) riding 25 miles of tacky, wet/mushy trails with ~3300ft elevation gain.

The crew was jeny, kim, dan, ann and me. Not a slouch of a rider in the bunch - except for me...but it was a great ride...we dodged the storms brewing all around and I had a wonderful time.

Thanks for everyone coming out - I would've given in to my pool addiction if you guys hadn't committed to riding. :)
