somethings never change
"take it easy on me" were the words Alicia said to me when we planned to ride up Flagstaff on Thursday for lunch.
Once a road racer always a road racer.
Alicia is a former road racer and she has a *tendency* to go 'balls-to-the-wall' whenever we ride. Needless to say it's pretty much always sufferfest when i ride with her...but at least i get a good workout in. ;)
But since she's been in grad school this semester she said we needed to 'take it easy' on Flagstaff. This would be my 3rd time up Flagstaff this week and I had skated sprints on Wednesday night i was all for 'going easy'.
We roll up to the hill and as soon as it turns right and off she goes. I sigh to myself and think 'uh huh...take it easy on me? jeesh - some things never change'. So off i go too. We busted ass up to the Flagstaff house and then she backed off some for the rest of the uphill. Thank god.
We had a good ride but I was WORKED!
I had an exertion headache the rest of the day.
I should've learned by now - when i'm riding with Alicia - somethings never change.
This week i'll be more prepared...I'm gonna try to borrow, Jen's lightweight road bike and see if riding her ~17lb road bike is better than riding my ~24lb road bike up the hill.. ;)
