brenda
My friend, Brenda, came for a visit. She lives in a small Texas town. We met when we worked together @ Baylor University Medical Center several years ago. She's a super-star. She doesn't have a college education (which usually helps in the IT arena) but by talent, hard work, determination and persistence she became my "go to" person on my team. I came to rely on her quite a bit and in the process we became great friends. It seems rare in the working world to fine someone that understands what needs to be done, how to do it, how to resolve problems as they come up and complete a project on time with quality. She never needed any hand-holding and usually came up with better solutions than I would've thought of. A manager's dream for sure.
She has since left the coporate world and opened up a business in the town she lives in. She's said she's been in the black since the 1st month. I know she dedicated a lot time and effort in her business so it wasn't by "luck" but by all the wonderful talents I mentioned above.
We haven't seen each other face-to-face in 7 years so I was worried our "connection" might have fallen by the wayside. But from the moment I picked her up at the airport on Saturday to the moment I dropped her off this afternoon - we didn't shut-up for 1 second. it's so nice to spend time with a person where you don't have to "try" it just flows.
We hit eTown and the Mayan theater and of course I had to take her to Mountain Sun and the Walnut.
Brenda was willing to try anything I suggested. So we drove my favorite road bike loop (st vrain/peak-2-peak/ward/left hand) and hiked Hall Ranch. Even tho she hasn't been on bike for 36(!) years she was willing to try. So we went on a bike path ride - it was very exciting for her - she's thinking about getting a bike!
I was very impressed with her ability. Check out these pix of her going through a corner. Her form is impeccible! good body position and her head is UP and Looking through the turn! now i just gotta get her to raise up the seat. ;)
