Chile Chllenge - Jeny's double whammy (bam! bam!)

As you readers of my blog know - Jeny is a kick @$$ mtn bike chick. She rides like a mountian goat uphil and rides "like a guy" downhill. I *wish* I had 1/2 of her talent and genetics. AND to top it off this girl is sizzlin' hot! (goes to show life just ain't fair) I'm telling ya - this girl has got it all!

Anyways - we all have been bugging her to race because for us "UNgenetically endowed riders" it's a shame to see all this talent go to waste. Jeny's been wanting to race but
has been afraid of the unknown.

Jeny does have a tendency to be a bit "high strung" - so there's always a ton of energy floating around when Jeny is all "spun up". I was hoping after she got a few wins under her belt she'd see what the rest of us see and have the confidence she deserves in her riding.

So she commited to the Chile Challenge. We had a great weekend the week before road-tripping and pre-riding the course. I was grateful to have her along last weekend as I don't anyone else that would've been that patient riding all over the mountain looking for the course as she was.

To make a long story short - Jeny SMOKED the Sport field in the XC race. Coming in at a whopping 1:54. The closest competior was 13 minutes back and the 2nd closest competitor was 20(!) minutes back.

In the SuperD race - Jeny was neck-and-neck with another girl coming into the finish and the other girl went wide on a corner and Jeny took advantage of that and passed her. As the girl was trying to catch up the girl's friends hollered out "Downshift!" in which Jeny promptly downshifted the same time as the competitor. The competitor's derailuer got all jacked up and Jeny sprinted to the finish.

here's a lame pic (my fault) of Jeny on the XC poduim.
I am very proud of Jeny.

She overcame some big demons to step up to the plate and face them down. She totally kicked some booty this weekend and it was awesome to see her have confidence in her wins. She was smiling and re-living her wins on the way home. :)
