a little niggle here - a little niggle there....
I have never heard anyone use the work "niggle" until I started running. Apparently, it's "runner's speak" for something is bothering you but it's not bad enough to stop running...or that's how I hear it being used.
As of today - the adductors are doing ok. I had a slight pain in my left calf but I did some e-stem/ultrasound at Allsports Recovery and it seemed to be ok during today's steady-state 6 mile run.
But I've been having a new problem crop up on the last few runs. At pretty much 3.5 miles into any run - my 3rd/4th toes on my left foot have been going numb. By the time I reach mile 4 - it literally feels like I have a stick taped to the bottom of my foot at the 4th toe. The first time it happened was on a trail so I immediately stopped and took off my shoe to remove the offending object - but there was nothing there. Stopping seems to alleviate the numbness and I'm usually able to continue on for another 3 or so miles.
I have self-diagnosed it as Morten's Neuroma. I've researched online and have tried this solution.
Taping toes together seems to have alleviated the "stick under the 4th toe" feeling. I am now getting a bit of numbness on the ball of my left foot - it's just a minor annoyance(at this time) or shall I say "niggle"... If the numbness gets bad after tomorrow's 11 mile run then I'll probably hit up the PT again.
Just when I thought I might be in the clear...sigh...
