remind me...
when i plan loong xc days to leave my fast girlfriends at home. these girls are trying to kill me!
Ann(fast as heck climber and super descender), Celeste (i think she was a mtn goat in a previous life), Sasha and Taryn (those girls can go all day long) and me - hit the Colorado Trail today.
An out-and-back to the Platte River. It ended being ~4hour ride time/~6hours being out time/ 34 miles / ~5500k feet of climbing.
I took the Safire in anticipation of the descending. Also, I wanted to hit those 20 descending switchbacks again and see if i could do better. I'm happy to say - I think that downhilling day helped and I rode the majority of the switchbacks. yay!
We started out ~10am and it was hot. After a little chain suck - things calmed down and we rode and rode and rode.
here are Celeste, Sasha, Taryn walking up the waterfall...the only pic i got all day long!
We cooled off in the Platte River and then rode and rode and rode. i was lazy on the climbs and let everyone go ahead and I granny/granny'ed it. but when it came to the descents I muscled my way up front (well behind Ann) and we blasted down the trail. i tell ya - that Safire rocks the descents.
Oh and I gotta say - i'm SUPER stoked that I rode this one switchback that has a 1.5ft drop in the middle of it. It's a left hander (my weak side) too! I still can't believe i rode it. yipee!
We got done a little after 4pm.
Man - a exhausting but FUN weekend of mtn biking with my homies. don't get much better than that - other than to top it off with the 'payoff'. ;)
the payoff
After a quick a shower - Sasha and I made a beeline to Zolos where I had 2(!) margs, a thing of guac and an order of quesdilla. YUMMY!!!

Then I went home and laid down with my belly up in the air. The I started thinking about cream cheese pastries from Whole Foods. So I made myself get up and go get some.
