WTF!?!?!
So my best pal, Dana, calls me up on Saturday asking how my race was and we were just chatting about this and that.
Then we had this little exchange:
me: "how was your 4th?"
dana: "exciting"
me: "good exciting or bad exciting"
dana: "bad exciting - I had a pulmonary embolism"
me: "what the hell???"
Then Dana tells me the story how she woke up in the middle of the night with really bad chest pain. So she gets on the computer and searchs for "what is chest pain" online and pretty much everything said GO TO THE HOSPITAL!
So she wakes up Xanthe and Xanthe wants to take her to the hospital but Dana doesn't want to go. So Dana calls Cooley and Cooley says to go and then Dana agrees to go to the hospital. After several tests they find the embolism. The pain she was experiencing was from the lung tissue that was not getting any oxygen.
Now Dana is the most independent people I know and she doesn't do well being a patient in a hospital. So after being there most of the day she bribed her way out of the hospital and was discharged.
Now she's going to figure out what what the plan of attack is.. thankfully she's past the major danger - it's just so scary to think we could have lost her. I can't let my thoughts go there.
Of course, Dana worked at the cafe on Sunday and Dave and I went to see her and give her a big hug. i love that girl.

oh and for the record - as long as she is on blood thinners - the Colorado Trail trip is off!
