descending

Last year in an effort to improve my lame descending skills I did several things ->
  1. got lessons from Lee McCormack
  2. raced a few 4x races
  3. raced a few SuperDs
  4. hit Winter Park and Keystone and did some chair lift/descending practice days.
It helped so much in fact - I keep getting pinch flats because i was more aggressive on the descents. (flats issue is resolved as i'm running tubeless and keep close tabs on my psi)

This year - I've done absolutely nothing to work on my descending. I had good intentions - I had planned to do some of the 4x/SuperD races- but it never worked out. I planned to stay at my
condo and do some Keystone descending days - but it never worked out.

So...here it is - the biking season is coming to a close and the resorts are closing soon. (oh where or where did the summer go??)

I badgered Dave into taking the day off today and hit Keystone.

The MSC race was just this past week so the SuperD course markings were still up. We got 4 runs in. For me - the 3rd run is always the best. After that 3rd run I get tired and start riding stupidly and I call it a day before I hurt myself.

It was a GREAT day - dave and I slept in a bit, hit Dot's for breakfast, rode our asses off, and then hit the Southern Sun for nachos, fries and beer. ugh...i drank too much beer and took a
long nap afterward.

I love riding with my honey. He's only been on his bike 3(!) times this year and after he got
warmed up - he was ripping it!

He rode behind me on Mosquito Coast and
afterward he said "You've gotten a lot better. you are picking good lines - you just got to *let it roll* a bit more." In other words - stay off the brakes. ;) my corners need work too...maybe i can get 1 more day in before the 15th....

i LOVE getting compliments from my guy.

here's a couple of pix - 1 of dave railing a turn and a few
of me - i'm pretty happy with my form(body position) - i just gotta let go of those brakes!

There's always next year. After this year I'm devoting more time to sprinting, intervals and gonna pin the Super-D's in the MSC next year. I hit the podium this year, barely, and want a top three finish next year. Its gonna be hard, but I know its do-able.

I think you just need to spend more time on the Supsension bike riding downhill and you'll be rippin in no time. I can definitely motivate you more in that direction if you're down for it.

I'll see u on the trails.
