it all started when...
Kim, Tracy and Jesper found out they all had birthdays in August and discussed doing a biking trip for their upcoming birthdays.
Kim(being a woman of action) took the bull by the horns and setup a trip to New Mexico for this past weekend. Sadly Jesper opted to do a quickie trip to Salida to ride Monarch Crest for his birthday.(but they had loads of fun without us)
Downhilling at Angel Fire
Kim was stoked to ride DH at Angel Fire. The is the scene of her first DH race and also a World Cup DH race course. (yikes-ola!)

We did 3 runs before thunderstorms chased us off the mountain. It was fun, fun, fun stuff. The techy sections on the World Cup DH course are big. Dave had a great time trying to keep up with Kim and Tracy.
Sadly my photo skillz are poor as I tried to get a pic of Dave and Kim riding a gnarly rock garden -but I was too close to them...then my camera battery died. :(

Dave says he's officially hooked on DH and *might* be in the market for a new bike. yippee!!!!
thanks to Kim for organizing(again) and helping me get dave on his bike again. Kim's side of the story and pix here. :)
ding...ding - we have a winner!

The South Boundary Trail still continues to be my ALL TIME favorite XC ride. Better than "Kenosha to Breck" (number two on my list) and better than Monarch Crest (number three on my list).
This is the 3rd time I've ridden this trail and it's still heads-and-shoulder my favorite trail. Last year I rode it on my rigid SS at GITA - this year I was running 120mm of travel baby. woohoo!
Tracy and I got up early and setup the shuttle and we hit the trail ~10am. After the grunty ~4mile climb (where Dave was cursing me) we hit the first descent 4.5mile of yummy singletrack. The crew had big smiles on their faces.
My memory was faulty and I thought there was only another 10minute climbing, but it turned out there was another 45minutes of climbing after the first descent. Dave hasn't been on his XC bike in months so he wasn't too happy with the climbing. (sorry babe!)
But everyone forgot about the climbing as there was 12miles of fun descending through Aspen Groves, Pine forests and rock gardens. Being on the 120mm travel bike I purposely looked for the biggest rocks to roll over. yeehaw!
Kim(psst her birthday is tomorrow the 12th) did a great write up and took a ton pix - her blog post here.
