Tuesday girls rides

So I've been coordinating Tuesday night girls rides. These are low-key, no-drop rides - with all levels of riders but mainly geared toward having newbie mtn bike girls so they will feel comfortable in a group. There is no pressure for being the last one up the hill or feeling like a wuss for not tackling an obstacle.

how i ended up *donating* my time and effort to coordinate and organize - i'm not sure how that happened, but it did and it's gaining momentum.

The funny thing is that these girls want to ride with girls but i dare say that Jen(who always comes) and I are probably better riders then the guys they ride with. i just find that really amusing.

Anyways - we've been having a good turnout and I've agreed to continue them throughout the summer.

I was a little annoyed when Sasha said "well it's not that much trouble to organize, right?"

ughh....yeah - it's trouble
  • i have to keep the blog updated www.tuesdayrides.blogspot.com
  • i have to keep an eye on the weather to determine we should cancel the ride
  • i get several emails and/or phone calls with questions
  • i have to plan my day to have all my biking gear ready to go for Tuesday before work
  • i have to leave work in time to get to the Safeway parking lot to wait *in case* someone shows up
  • i have to be at the trailhead @ 6pm in case someone shows up
  • since i sweep - i have to ride at a different pace then i used to
  • if i don't want to ride that day - i still have to give up my entire night and ride
  • if i want to ride something different - i have to wait
so - i was really annoyed that even some of my best friends don't realize that is a sacrifice - but I am doing it because i want to do it and encourage women to come out and ride.
