Christmas in July
or "the guitar fairy comes to boulder"
My nephew, Ethan, has been visiting for the past couple of weeks. He's 13 years old and an amazing kid. Smart, helpful, considerate, interested in many activities, willing to try anything new and very easy going. It's been a great pleasure having him around.
He's been looking for jobs to earn money. He's saving all his pennies to buy a guitar. He's been very focused on saving everything he gets.
Anyway - as everyone knows - Dave's a guitar junkie. I *think* he has ~9 guitars and when I ask him how many he has - he goes "i've lost count". Dave got the great idea to look around for a guitar for Ethan. He asked if my sister, Trisha and I would pitch in. Of course we said yes and Dave began seriously looking for a guitar to surprise Ethan.
He found a Les Paul style guitar and got a great deal on it because he knows the salesman, bought a hardshell guitar case, a tuner and pitched in one of his small practice amps. Plus, Dave arranged(and paid) for a guitar lesson with his guitar instructor.
This past weekend, Ethan flew to Seattle to visit my sister and I picked him up at the airport last night knowing Dave would meet us at my house with the new guitar.
When we got home Dave showed Ethan the guitar and Ethan was like "man! this is a nice guitar!"

That Dave - he is such a sweetie.

- here's pic of Ethan's face when Dave told him it was a gift.
- And the next picture it really sinking it that it's *his* guitar.
- And here's Dave showing him some guitar stuff that i have no clue on.
